Investors in the Bolton Wide sites are eligible for a range
of aid from Europe and central government.
European funding :
Bolton WIDE has been successful in attracting £9.6m of European
grant to the area in the period up to the end of 2007. The grant
will be used to develop key sites to attract new investors and to
assist local businesses to expand, as well as providing funds to
enable some of the poorer communities within Bolton, to access job
opportunities as new employment is created.
Regional selective assistance:
Parts of Bolton are defined as a 'tier 2' area for Department of
Trade and Industry Selective Finance for Investment which is a discretionary
grant, awarded to fund new investment projects that lead to long-term improvements
in productivity, skills and employment. Tier 2 includes Blackrod Ward which
contains all the Bolton Wide sites except Cutacre. Selective Finance for Investment
is potentially available to all industrial and commercial
companies in this area. The remaining areas of Bolton, including
Cutacre, are in tier 3, where a lesser level of assistance will
be available to businesses employing up to 250 people.
North West Development Agency:
The North West Development Agency is one of the Bolton Wide partners.
It may make discretionary grants for land development.
